Hot on the Trail

Lau Lauritzen Sr., 1919, 13 min
Every night a common thief stalks the local girl’s school, and he may already have stolen one heart. The headmistress of the school calls upon her nephew, the mighty detective, Basse, to apprehend the thief. On his way, Basse bumps into young Miss Lise, who happens to study at the school. Unfortunately, the great detective fails to grasp the core of the case: that Lise has an undisclosed sweetheart, who pays her secret visits every night after bedtime.

The film has German intertitles with Danish subtitles.

Oscar Stribolt plays the role of Detective Basse. Stribolt starred in more than 130 films, which makes him one of the most active actors in Danish silent films. Stribolt’s mighty stature and infectious humour were perfect for comic roles, and during his time at Nordisk Films Kompagni he often appeared in comedy films by director Lau Lauritzen Sr.
