On special commission

Lau Lauritzen Sr., 1916, 15 min
Rittmaster Rebbs receives a lewd letter from an old lover and travels into town “on special commission”. However, in the five years since the rittmaster last saw his Lulu, he also got married. His cunning wife soon suspects mischief, tracks down the rittmaster’s hotel room, and lies in wait in the bed. Meanwhile, the rittmaster’s old comrade-in-arms, who incidentally happens to be “on special commission” as well, checks into the same room. It seems everyone is in for a shock around bedtime!

The film has German intertitles with Danish subtitles.

Carl Alstrup plays the role of rittmaster Rebbs. During the silent film period, Alstrup was one of the capital’s most popular theatre and revue actors. He starred in more than 100 silent films, primarily with Nordisk Films Kompagni. Alstrup’s understated comic acting style was widely used in Lau Lauritzen Sr.’s comedies from 1915 onwards.
